OER@RLP - Open Educational Resources @ Rhineland-Palatinate
The project "Open Educational Resources @ Rhineland-Palatinate" (OER@RLP)" (OER@RLP) is based on the guiding principle of providing the knowledge of the academic world to society in a digital form across borders - and this free of charge with flexible rights of use. Teachers and students are thus given the opportunity to access, use and modify content, materials and their media presentation forms.
This new practice in dealing with open digital knowledge resources requires the consideration of certain framework conditions. The OER@RLP project, which is funded by the BMBF within the framework of the "OERInfo" call for proposals, initially aims to raise awareness of OERs and their possibilities. In addition, multipliers in Rhineland-Palatinate are to be qualified in dealing with OERs. A further objective is to give OER greater attention and presence in everyday education.
The Distance and Independent Studies Center covers the area of scientific continuing education and, for the Technische Universität Kaiserslautern, the area of higher education together with the Virtual Campus Rhineland-Palatinate (VCRP). Milestones were defined in a total of four work packages, which focus on the university context and scientific continuing education. They can be summarised as follows:
- Creation of an overview and referencing of existing OERs in continuing education in science.
- Informing local multipliers and organising events.
- Creation of a blended learning qualification concept (material development, implementation, evaluation/feedback, certification).
The duration of the project is 18 months, from November 2016 to April 2018.
Further project participants are the VCRP (overall coordination), the Bildungswerk des Landessportbund Rheinland-Pfalz, the Catholic Adult Education Rhineland-Palatinate, medien+bildung.com, the Pedagogical State Institute Rhineland-Palatinate and the Association of Adult Education Centres of Rhineland-Palatinate.
